COMMERCE CITY - A surveillance operation ended with a meth lab bust in Commerce City Wednesday.

A tipster told authorities a lab was operating at 11338 Newark St. in Commerce City, police said.

The North Metro Drug Task Force set up surveillance at the house following the tip.

NMDTF officials made a traffic stop on a man they saw leaving the house Wednesday morning, according to police.

Police said the man in the car was visibly on drugs. They found a 357 magnum handgun, cocaine, four ounces of meth that was still wet, a police scanner and night vision goggles.

NMDTF officials obtained a search warrant for the house following the arrest.

Police found an active meth lab inside the house, including cold medicine and several chemicals used for making meth. A bowl of freshly made meth was also found, according to police.

Police arrested six suspects during the search. There were no children in the house at the time.

The house has been tagged with red danger signs that say is currently unsafe to live there.

This development is very unwelcome news to the person who just bought the home. The buyer says they were unaware of the drug activity at the home.
